Love Spells and Free Will: Where Baba Ali Draws the Line

Do love spells take away free will? An honest look at influence versus control, what love work really does, the cases always declined, and why the line exists.

Open birdcage with a white feather

Love spells and free will do not conflict. As Baba Ali Musa practices them, love spells do not take away anyone’s free will. They work on the connection between two people: softening what has hardened, clearing what stands in the way, and turning a partner’s attention and feelings back toward you.

Whether that person walks back through the door is still their choice. That is not a disclaimer added for comfort. It is the line that decides which work is done, which cases are declined, and how every ritual is shaped.

This post explains the difference between influence and control, what love work actually does, the situations where Baba Ali always says no, and why that line matters for the person you love and for you.

Love spells and free will: why this question comes up

People ask about free will for different reasons. Some are uneasy: they want their partner back, but they do not want to push anyone into anything. Some have seen websites promising to make someone “obey,” and want to know whether that is real. Some are skeptics testing whether a practitioner is honest. And some, in pain, secretly hope the answer is yes, that a spell could simply make the other person come home no matter what.

All of those are human reactions. The honest answer serves all of them better than a comforting fiction would.

Influence is everywhere in love

Every relationship involves influence. You dress well for a date. Also, you cook someone’s favorite meal after a fight. You write a heartfelt letter. You ask a friend to put in a good word. Each of these is an attempt to move someone’s heart, and none of them takes away their freedom. They invite a response; they do not dictate one.

Love spells and free will: roses and a blank card on a doorstep

Love work belongs to that same family of influence, carried out through prayer, ritual and tradition rather than flowers or words. It opens a door, sweetens a mood, reminds someone of what they felt. The difference between influence and control is simple: influence leaves the other person free to say no.

What love work actually does

In practice, love work aims at the things that keep two people apart even when love remains:

Love spells and free will: two candle flames leaning together
  • Pride that makes someone refuse to reach out first.
  • Hurt and anger that bury warmer feelings.
  • Outside voices such as friends, family or a new partner pulling them away.
  • Fear of being hurt again, or of what others will think.
  • Distance and routine that let a bond fade simply through neglect.

When those obstacles soften, the feelings underneath have room to surface. If there is real love there, it often does. If there is not, no honest work can manufacture it.

What control would look like, and why it is not offered

Some casters sell work framed as domination: making someone obsessed, obedient or unable to leave. Baba Ali does not offer this, for three reasons.

First, it is not honest. No practitioner can promise to take over another person’s mind, and pretending otherwise is selling fantasy to someone in pain. Second, it is not love. A relationship where one person feels trapped is not a relationship most people would choose to live in, even the person asking for it. Third, it causes harm. Requests for control often come from fear of abandonment or overwhelming jealousy, and feeding those feelings with ritual makes them worse, not better.

The strongest work Baba Ali does, described in the approved line Strong binding work for hard cases other casters turn away, is strong love binding for difficult situations. It is never work to control a person. Our post on how binding love spells work explains the difference.

Love work opens a door. Control would be pushing someone through it. Only one of those is love.

The cases always declined

Free will is not only a principle; it is a set of practical lines. Baba Ali always declines:

Love spells and free will: closed door with light beneath it
  • Cases involving minors, as client or target.
  • A person who has asked the client to stay away. A clear “leave me alone” is an answer, not an obstacle to overcome.
  • Protective orders. If a court has ordered distance, no spiritual work will be done to close it.
  • Relationships with abuse, violence or threats, in either direction.
  • Requests to harm anyone, including a rival or an ex’s new partner.
  • Breaking up another family out of spite.

In each of these, someone’s safety or clearly expressed choice outweighs the client’s wish. You are not charged for a reading that ends in no. The formal commitments are in the Ethics Charter.

“They said they need space.” Is that a clear no?

Not always, and this is where judgment matters. “I need space” after a fight is very different from “I never want to hear from you again” said calmly after months of thought. The first is often a pause; the second is a decision. A reading looks at the whole situation: how the relationship ended, what has been said since, whether the other person has reached out, whether there are any safety concerns. If the honest picture is that someone has chosen, clearly and calmly, to move on, Baba Ali will say so.

Respecting privacy is part of respecting choice

Free will also shows up in smaller things. Checking a partner’s phone without their knowledge, tracking their location, or demanding their passwords all chip away at their freedom. According to the Pew Research Center, seven in ten Americans say it is rarely or never acceptable to look through a partner’s phone without their knowledge, yet 34% of partnered adults say they have done it. Love work never asks you to spy, and it works best alongside trust rather than surveillance.

What traditions say

Different traditions think about love work and choice in different ways. Many West African and diaspora traditions see spiritual work as part of a relationship with God, the ancestors and the spirits, in which requests are made, not commands issued, and outcomes are never certain. Southern Hoodoo is often practical and direct, yet rootworkers have long warned against work done out of spite. Modern Wiccan and pagan traditions frequently teach explicit rules against interfering with another person’s will.

Baba Ali’s Senegalese lineage frames love work as prayer and ritual offered for a bond, with humility about the outcome. That is the heart of why control is not part of it.

The client’s free will matters too

Free will runs both ways. You have the right to take your time, ask questions, decline work, stop at any point before the ritual, and request a refund if you see no change. You should never feel pressured, frightened or trapped by a practitioner. If a caster tells you that stopping will bring harm to you or your family, that is a violation of your freedom, and a warning sign. Our post on how to choose a real love spell caster explains what to watch for.

Two paths splitting in a forest

Three illustrations

These are composite examples, not real clients. They show how the line works in practice.

The proud ex

A couple split after a fight. Both miss each other; neither will reach out first. There is no abuse, no one else, no request for distance. Love work here is squarely within the line: it softens pride so that one of them feels able to send the first message.

The partner who left for someone else

A client’s partner has started seeing someone new, partly under pressure from friends. The reading shows the old bond is still warm. Clearing interference loosens that pull without harming the new person, and return work turns the partner’s attention back. Whether they return is still up to them.

The ex who asked for no contact

A client’s ex has blocked them everywhere and sent a message asking to be left alone after a frightening argument. Here the line is clear. Baba Ali declines the case, and gently suggests support for the client instead. That is not a failure of the work. It is the work being honest.

Hope versus entitlement

There is an important difference between hoping someone comes back and feeling that they owe it to you. Hope says: I love this person, I believe there is still something between us, and I want to give it every chance. Entitlement says: they belong with me, and their choice does not count. Love work is built for hope. It cannot, and should not, serve entitlement.

Seedling in cracked earth

Most people who come to Baba Ali are firmly on the side of hope, even in their darkest moments. But pain can blur the line. If you notice yourself thinking that the other person has no right to leave, that is a sign to slow down, talk to someone you trust, and perhaps focus first on your own healing.

When you were the one who left

Free will cuts both ways in another sense too. Many clients ended the relationship themselves and now regret it. They chose to leave; now they choose to try again. That is entirely within the line. Love work in these cases softens the hurt you caused and opens a path for the other person to consider you again. Whether they do is their choice, just as leaving was yours. A sincere apology, patience and changed behavior matter as much as any ritual.

What it means when feelings return

When love work succeeds, what returns is not a spell-bound person. It is someone who remembers what they felt, whose pride and anger have softened, and who has chosen to reach out. Clients sometimes worry that returned feelings are somehow less real. They are not. Feelings that come back after hurt has softened are as real as the feelings that were there before the hurt. Love work removes obstacles; it does not install emotions.

The same principle that guides love work guides healthy relationships every day. Partners ask rather than demand. They respect a “not now.” They do not read each other’s messages without permission or control who the other sees. Also, they make their case with kindness and let the other person decide. If your relationship returns, bringing that same respect into it is the best way to make it last.

Questions clients ask about free will

“If they still love me deep down, isn’t it fine to push?” Love work is how you encourage those feelings to surface. Pushing, in the sense of pressure, threats or ultimatums, tends to bury them further.

“What if their family is the one making the choice?” Clearing outside interference loosens that pressure, so the person can listen to their own heart. It does not decide for them.

“Can I ask for them to leave their new partner?” Baba Ali can work to turn your partner’s attention back to you and loosen a third person’s pull. Work is never done to harm the new partner or to break up a family out of spite.

What honesty sounds like in a reading

When free will is taken seriously, it shows in how a reading is delivered. You might hear: “The bond is warm on their side, but they are frightened of being hurt again. The work can soften that fear; the decision to reach out will be theirs.” You will not hear: “After this ritual, they will have no choice.” The first is honest and respectful. The second is a sales line.

A note for skeptics

If you do not believe spiritual work affects anyone at all, the free will question may seem beside the point. But it still matters, because it shapes how a practitioner treats you. A caster who promises to control another person is showing you that they will say anything to make a sale. Also, a practitioner who tells you plainly what the work can and cannot do, and who turns some cases down, is showing you the kind of honesty you should expect before trusting anyone with your heart or your money.

Why the line protects you

It might seem that ethical limits only protect the other person. They protect you too. Work done within the line leads, when it succeeds, to a relationship where both people want to be there. That is the only kind that lasts. Work that tried to cross it would leave you with fear, guilt and a relationship built on something you could never trust. Clients who reconnect after honest love work often say the best part was knowing their partner came back because they chose to.

What love work cannot promise

Because free will remains, no love work can honestly promise another person’s feelings. What Baba Ali does promise is the work, done properly, and a clear refund: clients are asked to watch for the first signs within 3 to 7 days, and if you don’t, you get a full refund under the Refund Policy. That promise is about the work, not about controlling anyone.

If you are struggling with control or jealousy

Sometimes people ask for control because they are frightened: of being left, of being replaced, of being alone. Those feelings are human and painful, and they deserve real care. If jealousy or fear is taking over your life, talking to a counselor can help more than any ritual. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, please reach out now: call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The aftercare page lists more free support.

How to start within the line

If your situation is one where love still lives on both sides and nobody is unsafe, a free reading is the natural next step. You will hear honestly whether the bond is open and which work fits: return work, sweetening, clearing interference or binding. The ethics guide covers the same principles in reference form.

Questions about love spells and free will

Do love spells take away free will?

Not as Baba Ali practices them. Love work turns someone back toward you; the choice to return stays theirs.

Is it wrong to cast a love spell on someone?

Love work that aims to open a door, harms no one and respects a clear “no” is, in Baba Ali’s view, a sincere prayer for love.

Can a spell make someone obsessed with me?

Baba Ali does not offer obsession or domination work. It is neither honest nor loving.

Why do you decline some cases?

Because someone’s safety or clearly expressed choice outweighs the request. You are not charged for a reading that ends in no.

Will the other person know?

No. The work is private. They may simply find themselves thinking of you more.

Are returned feelings real?

Yes. Love work removes obstacles like pride and anger. The feelings that surface afterward belong to the other person.

I ended the relationship. Is it fair to try again?

Yes. Choosing to try again is within the line. Whether they accept is their choice, just as leaving was yours.

What if they still choose not to come back?

That is their right. Clients are asked to watch for the first signs within 3 to 7 days; if you don’t, you get a full refund under the Refund Policy.
